Kansas City Business Journal Features Park Place as Gathering Place of Leawood

05.08.2008

Leawood Mayor Peggy Dunn, Jeff Alpert, Melanie Mann and Peggy Rice speak of Park Place and its socioeconomic impact.

From the article:

“Promoted as a gathering place for the suburban community of Leawood, Park Place aims to offer a true mixed-use development with the city’s first hotels. Upon full completion, which could take an additional five to seven years, the project will have more than 1 million square feet of retail, office, hotel and residential space.

True to its name, Park Place also is to include two parks, one of which will have a hike/bike trail and an ice skating rink in the winter.

“We felt like it was a responsible way to develop a place that would be enduring and something that was missing out in the suburbs,” said Melanie Mann, a co-developer with Jeffrey Alpert.”
