A Day of Wedding Research at Park Place

Bride-to-Be: Hannah Baker (Blog: Habits and Vitals; Instagram: @hannahbakerr)

This March, Park Place hosted bride-to-be Hannah Baker and her fiancé, Jon Vance, to experience our wedding products and services as part of their wedding research. Sarah Dean Photography captured their experience in meeting with the various owners and managers, all eager to help add the “happy” in “happily ever after.”

With a May 26th wedding date closely approaching, Hannah has been anxiously working through her to-do checklist in preparation for the big day. She’s excited to be closing in on the final details...whew! Unlike the wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses, this was a day that Jon could join her for decisions they make together. Separating only to experience individual services, the couple enjoyed everything from shopping for their KC souvenirs to taste testing gelato. Tough research!

A quick word about the photography because it was key in capturing this experience. Sarah Hermann of Sarah Dean Photography is a master at creating a statement with her pictures, which is critical on your wedding day. In addition to looking exactly like Sandra Bullock, she has an eye for real life experiences, a knack for unobtrusive and a passion that rivals her unique skill.

Back to the wedding research. The first stop was a tour of The Gent’s Place for the couple. Even though this is a premium men’s grooming club, Hannah was also interested in learning about it. With services for hair, facials, shaving, body and massage, The Gent’s Place has conducted many bachelor parties and wedding day prep for the groom’s family and friends. Jon tested out his first straight razor shave and was captivated with this facial treatment and shave in one. They actually incorporate six unique fine men’s grooming products and a dozen hot and cold towel treatments. Jon is now a believer in the power of pampering!

After the tour, Hannah was treated to her own pampering with a blowout by Jeremy at Timothy Weber: A Hair Salon. Timothy Weber is a full-service salon so they also see many bridal parties and brides-to-be for cuts, coloring, highlights, styling, nail services and massage treatments. Hannah was testing out hairstyles for her wedding weekend and Jeremy expertly achieved the exact look she was wanting!

Next, the couple met Morgan, one of the owners of Pink Antlers Studio. Morgan showed them their wide array of wedding and party planning products, upscale paper plates/cups/cutlery, plastic wine/champagne glasses, confetti, cake toppers, mammoth balloons, candles, organizers, bridesmaids gifts and thank you notes — just to name a few. Hannah was in heaven!

With so many out-of-town guests, Hannah and Jon were also researching hotel options they could include on their wedding web site. Aloft Leawood-Overland Park had just the right modern, upbeat vibe for their guests. They received the full tour of various size rooms, the gym and indoor pool, WXYZ bar, outdoor patio and more. Aloft gladly showed the couple their recent renovations with new mattresses, a pool table and more.

Afterwards, Hannah and Jon had the perfect break while also continuing their research — taste testing at Paciugo Gelato & Artisan Coffee. This Italian ice cream has become a popular alternative to the traditional wedding cakes at receptions — and has 70% less fat than ice cream. They even have a cart they bring to the receptions to provide a customized experience. Hannah and Jon combined flavors to create unique tastes, like Lavender Vanilla with Wedding Cake or Sea Salt Caramel with Coffee Mocha Swirl. It was tough for them to leave for the next destination...until Hannah learned it was jewelry!

Tom Tivol Jewels has everything from diamonds, colored gemstones, pearls, antique and estate jewelry and custom designs. Tom is one of the most respected jewelers in the Kansas City area so couples can feel confident they are working with the best the city has to offer. Hannah was shocked at some of the amazing one-of-a-kind pieces and loved learning about their history.

Lastly, the couple bid a brief goodbye while Hannah was treated to a facial at Bare Med Spa and Jon enjoyed March Madness at The Ainsworth. Many brides-to-be will receive a consultation prior to their wedding to learn how to get the best skin and body for their special day through services like skin rejuvenation, laser hair reduction, body sculpting and wrinkle fillers. Hannah chose to have a Hydrafacial to restore skin hydration and begin the process of enhancing the overall health of her skin prior to the wedding. She left feeling extremely clean and smooth and ready to face the world, or at least the wedding!

We are thankful to be part of such an important day and look forward to showing off the wedding products and services to future brides and grooms.  In addition to the businesses listed above, it's also important to note the stores that cater to the early research -- bridal gowns and accessories at Altar Bridal, bridesmaids dresses at Bella Bridesmaids and flowers at Flowers by Emily.

After a full day, Hannah joined her future husband at The Ainsworth for a recap of the experience and their joint decisions. It was clear the young couple faced this day like they are going to face every day of their long and happy marriage — with enthusiasm, teamwork and love. Best wishes to Hannah and Jon!
